Check Dams Contruction

Check dams for water recharge are constructed by Rural development , Public Works and Agriculture engineering departments. Forest department undertakes check dams construction in Forest areas.

Hon’ble CM of Tamilnadu inaugurated construction of 129 check dams in 10 blocks of erode district at an estimated cost of 28.2 crores.

The sites were chosen based on ground water category and Zonation for recharge capacity of the surface.

District administration has set a target of 210 check dams for the year 2021-22 in which 50 percent will be built in areas where ground water category is over exploited and critical.
